LIMarch132019: Mental Health in Schools The Hidden Crisis (Auburn)

Description

Mental Health in Schools: The Hidden Crisis

Presenter: Kristen Berthiaume (Grayson & Associates)

& Denise Riemer (Mobile County Schools)

Statistics show up to one in five children living in the U.S. experience symptoms of a mental health disorder annually. These issues can be tied to schools through chronic absences, low achievement, disruptive behavior and dropping out. Hear from an expert in the field of mental health as she describes the nature and extent of disorders experienced by students and what educators need to know to help. Additionally, participants will have an opportunity to learn how a large, urban school district is working to align behavioral health initiatives for effective support to promote student well-being and resiliency.
